Edgar Schmieder zählt zu den Pionieren der erneuerbaren Energien in Deutschland. Sein langjähriges Wirken konzentriert sich auf dezentrale Energieansätze nach dem Prinzip der Bottom-up-Philosophie – mit den Leitmotiven Autarkie, Resilienz und Nachhaltigkeit. Er ist Gründungsmitglied der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Sonnenenergie (DGS, 1975 an der TU München) sowie des Deutschen Wasserstoffverbands (DWV, 1996).

Zu den Meilensteinen seiner sozialökologisch orientierten, praxisnahen Forschung zählen unter anderem H₂-ready-Stirlingmotoren sowie autarke, bidirektionale Kaltwärmenetze in Kombination mit Eisspeichertechnologie. Edgar Schmieder ist bekannt dafür, technologische Innovationen, Demonstrationen, unternehmerische Praxis und gesellschaftliches Engagement wirkungsvoll zu verbinden – mit dem Ziel, die Energiewende in Deutschland aktiv mitzugestalten.

August Weckermann KG

Die August Weckermann KG plant den Bau eines nahezu energieautarken Produktions- und Verwaltungsstandorts, der mithilfe von Photovoltaik, einer Redox-Flow-Batterie und einem Wasserstoffsystem einen Autarkiegrad von über 75 % erreichen soll. Das Projekt dient nicht nur der eigenen Versorgungssicherheit und Wettbewerbsfähigkeit, sondern soll auch als Modell für andere mittelständische Unternehmen auf dem Weg zur klimaneutralen Energieversorgung fungieren.
